Record-breaking IP Lectures for University Students in Indonesia

The WIPO Academy held week-long virtual lectures on intellectual property (IP) from November 1 to 5, 2021 for the benefit of graduate and undergraduate students at the Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Padjadjaran. More than 1000 students took part in the lectures, resulting in one of the highest turnout rates in Academy-organized IP lectures for universities. The IP lectures form part of the Academy’s cooperation with universities in Indonesia to promote IP higher education.

What did the IP lectures cover?

During the lectures, IP experts from WIPO covered a range of topics including:

  • International protection of trademarks, designs and geographical indications;
  • WIPO internet treaties and recent developments in the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights;
  • The Madrid System for the international registration of trademarks;
  • IP, traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expressions and genetic resources; and
  • International protection of patents and recent developments in patent law.
