Main Findings
78% of Internet users do not share files with others. 67% of Internet users who download music do not care if it is copyrighted (an increase from 61% in 2000). 42% of those who download files also share files with others.
Illegal music downloading is found to be most prevalent among: males, Hispanics, 8-29 year-olds, students, people with lower levels of educational attainment, people with lower income, and experienced Internet users. College graduates and parents are most likely to be concerned about copyright, though they still engage in illegal downloading.
