The WIPO international Symposia, which are held every two years, bring together representatives of Member States’ administrations, producers who use geographical indications to promote their products, and leading experts in the field, for an exchange of experiences and views. In addition to offering practical insights into technicalities concerning the use and protection of geographical indications, the symposia seek to contribute constructively to the ongoing debate on issues relating to geographical indications at the national and international levels.
WIPO and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), China, jointly hosted the 2007 International Symposium on Geographical Indications in Beijing from June 26 to 28.
