WIPO Director General Daren Tang visited Nairobi, Kenya from June 5–6, 2025, for a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation with national stakeholders and supporting Kenya’s innovation and creative ecosystems through intellectual property (IP).

In a meeting with President William Ruto, Mr. Tang noted that Kenya’s increased investment in R&D demonstrates the prioritization of the country’s innovation ecosystem in support of its economic development goals. At the Kenya Startup Festival, Mr. Tang met with Kenya’s vibrant startup community and lauded the country’s dynamic entrepreneurial spirit — an ethos of resilience, creativity, and self-driven entrepreneurship.
