World IP Day Music Industry and Intellectual Property Roundtable

In celebration of World Intellectual Property (IP) Day 2025, The WIPO Nigeria Office will host a high-level Seminar themed “The Music Industry as a Catalyst for National Development: Opportunities and Challenges”. This event will bring together key stakeholders from the Nigerian music industry, government, and IP ecosystem to explore the critical role of intellectual property in fueling creativity, innovation, and sustainable growth.

Hosted by Mr. Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Nigerian influencer and media personality, key highlights include:

  • A keynote address by the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa.
  • A panel discussion featuring diverse perspectives from government, legal, and artistic sectors; including Mr. Akinyemi Ayinoluwa, prominent IP and music lawyer; Mr. Obi Asika, seasoned music business executive and Director-General National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC; Mr. Cobhams Asuquo, award-winning artist, producer, and music entrepreneur as well as a representative from the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).
  • A live performance by Mr. Cobhams Asuquo

In line with this year’s World IP Day which focuses on “IP and Music,” the seminar is expected to underscore how a robust IP framework can serve as a foundation for economic development, job creation, and global competitiveness within Nigeria's creative industries—with a particular focus on music.
