Closing the Gap: Improving Female Participation in Intellectual Property (IP) in Nigeria

The WIPO Nigeria Monthly Webinar Series continues on March 28, 2025 with the topic "Closing the Gap: Improving Female Participation in IP in Nigeria." This webinar will explore the current challenges faced by women in intellectual property (IP) and offer insights into strategies for promoting greater inclusion and engagement in the IP sector.

The speakers for this session include Ms. Sharleen Oduor, Intellectual Property and Gender Fellow at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and Dr. Nkem Itanyi, Intellectual Property Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Ms. Oduor will give an overview of the WIPO IP and Gender Action Plan (IPGAP), including WIPO policies, initiatives and action plan to encourage women participation in IP. Dr. Itanyi will discuss the role of education in improving female participation in IP in Nigeria. The session will be moderated by Ms. Victoria Onyeagbako, Doctoral Researcher at QMUL.

This webinar aims to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and offer practical solutions to empower women in the IP field in Nigeria. The event is open to IP professionals, academia, policymakers, and anyone interested in gender equality within the IP domain.
