WIPO Intellectual Property for Green Innovation Demo Exhibition Day

Following six months of intensive training and mentorship on using intellectual property as a tool for business development and financing, 100 green technology innovators have successfully completed the WIPO Intellectual Property for Green Innovation Program. To celebrate their achievements and formally conclude the project, a Demo Exhibition Day will take place at the Lagos Business School on May 29, 2025.

The IP for Green Innovation Program, organized in collaboration with the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC), is modeled after the WIPO IP Management Clinics (IPMC) with the aim of building the capacity of Nigerian green hardware innovators in identifying and utilizing IP for business and commercialization.

The program officially launched, along with the WIPO IP Labs program, on October 8, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria. Present at the event were key figures in the Nigerian tech & IP landscape including Mr. Nasir Yammama, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Innovation; Mr. Tunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Ms. Lynda Alpheus, Director of the Lagos Office of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. Oswald Guobadia, Former Senior Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Digital Transformation and partner at DigitA; Ms. Tracy Okoro Isaac, Partner at Digit A; Mr. Senator Ihenyen, Lead Partner at Infusion Lawyers; Ms. Shukurat Amosa, Intellectual Property Consultant; Mr. Victor Boyle-Komolafe, Founder & CEO at GIVO Africa and Mr. Lanre Ogundipe, CEO at PaveHQ.

Following the launch event, 100 green hardware innovators, selected from a total of 232 applicants, were onboarded into the program via a virtual event on November 18, 2024. The program consisted of two stages: An incubation and acceleration training facilitated by the NCIC and which was held from November 2024 to January 2025. The second stage was focused on the WIPO IP Management Clinics, involving training and mentorship on IP protection, business strategies, and market readiness. It held from February to April 2025.

The final Demo Exhibition Day event will highlight the success stories of the program participants, who will have the opportunity to present their solutions, their IP strategy, and the potential impact of their business. The event will draw a diverse audience, including industry experts, potential investors, and policymakers, as well as members of the diplomatic community.
