April 25, 2019

Our fully refreshed Madrid e-Renewal service is set to transform users’ experience when renewing international registrations online. From April 29, trademark users will be able to file renewal requests completely online, enjoy greater clarity, avoid common mistakes, and benefit from instant tracking – all by accessing the new e-Renewal service via their WIPO Account.

Key e-Renewal improvements to look forward to

The Madrid e-Renewal Service will guide trademark users step-by-step through the renewal process. Some highlights of the wide-ranging enhancements include:

  • Instant receipt of your unique WIPO reference number, in your confirmation email and printable summary, so you can check the status of your renewal more quickly and easily in Madrid Monitor.
  • Easier selection of Contracting Parties and Good and Services, including the option to renew Goods and Services that aren’t protected (paragraph 4 in the MM11 form).
  • A far more engaging and intuitive user interface.
  • A fully traceable service accessible exclusively through a WIPO account.

The new 100% online service is available from Monday, April 29, but the existing e-Renewal service will remain effective for a transition period until August 1, 2019.  With this in mind, why not try the new service for your next renewal transaction, and start enjoying the enhancements straight away.

How does e-Renewal work?

An international registration under the Madrid System is valid for 10 years, and can be renewed directly with WIPO. With our e-Renewal service you can file renewal requests online (three months before expiry, or within six months after expiry), and pay your renewal fees with a credit card or Current Account at WIPO.

Remember!

The fully online service has built-in real-time checks for every aspect of your renewal. And with no paper forms to fill out, you can complete and confirm international registration renewals in one user-friendly and time-saving process.

To get started, simply log in to Madrid e-Renewal via your WIPO Account (from April 29). Then enter the international registration number, select the Contracting Parties in which you would like to renew your Registration, and then enter your payment information to complete the process.
