Bangkok, August 2026. WIPO's IP for Business Division took part in IP x VENTURE RISE Thailand 2026, held from 27 to 29 August at the IMPACT Exhibition Center in Bangkok. The event was organized by Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) and Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI).
As part of the event, WIPO delivered a One-Day IP Workshop in collaboration with DIP and TSRI. Ten Thai companies, from a diverse range of sectors and industries, received one-on-one advice from Bangkok-based IP experts.
At a panel discussion on "IP as a Key Business Enabler," entrepreneurs explained how IP has supported their growth. Ms. Chatchanee Pakavatsoontorn, Managing Director of Baldes and an alumna of the WIPO IP Management Clinic, described how her company protected its invention abroad. Baldes filed an international patent application through WIPO's Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) before it appeared on Shark Tank Thailand.
When an investor asked how our invention was protected, we already had the answer. Filing internationally early gave us confidence, and it gave investors confidence in us.
