As part of the WIPO IP Management Clinic Program Nadjahi, 15 Algerian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the industrial sector took part in the first intensive training bootcamp, focused on strengthening their business strategies through effective use of intellectual property (IP).
Over the course of two days (July 28–29), participants engaged in a comprehensive training program designed to help SMEs understand how to identify, protect, and leverage their IP assets to support growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bouziane Mahmah, Director General for the Promotion of Quality, Innovation, and Industrial Safety at the Ministry of Industry, expressed gratitude to WIPO for its support and reiterated the critical role SMEs play in the national economy, highlighting the need to enhance their performance through the strategic use of IP.
The sessions were led by local experts in IP, business development, and finance, covering key topics such as:
- Fundamentals of intellectual property
- Integration of IP into the business model
- Basic financial concepts for managers
- Valuation of intangible assets
- Digital marketing and branding
- Ownership and international IP strategies
- Strategic partnerships and licensing
Delivered in an interactive format, the bootcamp combined expert-led presentations with practical exercises, giving entrepreneurs a chance to apply the knowledge directly to their businesses. From structuring their business models around intangible assets to exploring international expansion, participants were encouraged to view IP as a strategic asset, not just a legal formality.
Although this first session was held without formal officials or press coverage, it marked a key milestone in the Nadjahi program’s mission to empower Algerian industrial SMEs through tailored, hands-on capacity building in IP management.
