Taita Basket Branding Project Exhibition at TICAD VI

WIPO exhibited the support it is providing to African countries under Japan Funds-in-Trust at JAPAN FAIR – a side event to TICAD VI (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) on August 27 and 28, 2016 in Nairobi (Kenya). The exhibition featured a display of selected sisal baskets made by women in Taita Taveta County (Kenya), the site of a WIPO branding project.

During the two-day exhibition, the baskets attracted nearly 200 visitors, who discovered how they are related to intellectual property. Among the visitors were African members of parliament, government officials and small business owners.

The exhibition of baskets took place in cooperation with the Taita Taveta County Government and the Japan Patent Office (JPO).
