Collective Marks as a Tool for Development: Bolivia

The Development Agenda Project on Collective Marks in the Bolivia is working in the Chaco Chuquisaqueño Region with the Association ARACH (Asociación Regional de Apicultores del Chaco Chuquisaqueño), which brings together 42 different organizations of producers of honey.

WIPO has teamed up with National IP Office (SENAPI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Empoderar program of the Ministry of Rural Development and Land of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to assist the Association ARACH in the development of a collective mark for their honey products.

Information Events, Workshops and Trainings

As part of the project implementation, a series of information events, workshops and training activities were organized for members of ARACH as well as SENAPI officials and other stakeholders to raise awareness on the development, registration, management and use of collective marks.

Collective mark registration

On July 31, 2023, the Miel del Chaco collective mark was officially registered with the national IP Office.

Launch event

On February 19, 2024, the collective mark was officially launched in La Paz. The national project team in Bolivia, honey producers of ARACH and other stakeholders celebrated the registration of the collective mark and discussed its importance for the future of the honey industry
