CLIM/CE/25 - a fruitful session

The Committee of Experts of the Nice Union held its 25th session in Geneva, from April 27 to May 1. The Committee examined approximately 660 indications of goods and services in English and 550 in French. Proposals for modifications to NCL(10-2015) were submitted by 13 member countries and the International Bureau.

The Committee further examined and approved a proposal for modifications to the 11 class headings that contained the expression “goods made of [material], not included in other classes”, submitted by OHIM. The deletion of such expression intends to facilitate the use of the class headings for filing purposes. Similar terms were introduced instead in the explanatory notes.

The new version of the Nice Classification, NCL(10-2016) will be published on NicePub in December 2015 and will enter into force on January 1, 2016.
