Paul Kane Curriculum Vitae - Mr. Paul M. Kane

Paul M. Kane, a national of United Kingdom, is C.E.O. of Internet Computer Bureau plc, an international company having data centers in UK, USA, Japan, and Switzerland. He is Administrator of three ccTLDs and ICB provides automated registry support to these ccTLDs and technical support to a number of other ccTLDs. Mr. Kane is also Operations Director of REACTO Limited, which provides stand alone registry systems to ICANN Accredited Registrars, both in the gTLDs and multi-lingual based system. REACTO is one of the world’s leaders in the provision of stand-alone registry systems and he is the elected European representative of the Registrars’ Constituency on the ICANN Names Council. Mr. Kane was on attachment as General Manager, to INternet ONE, a testbed project of the Group of 8 Industrialized Nations Information Society, facilitating increased consumer confidence, competitiveness and participation in global trade for Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SME's). During his period of office, INternet ONE won a number of awards, the coveted Research Institute of Computer Science Award, (Tokyo), and Best Consumer Customer Service at the Internet Industry Awards 1999 (Europe).

Mr. Kane is also Chief Operations Officer of the Universal WHOIS service (Uwhois.com), a "one-stop" point of reference for gTLD/ccTLD/RIR domain and IP address information. Designed to build consumer confidence in gTLDs/ccTLDs and DNS address space, Uwhois.com receives in excess of 600,000 queries per day with servers in UK, USA, Japan, and Switzerland.

In 1997 and 1998 he was one of the authors designing the protocols supporting the exchange of legally binding documents and signatures within the European Community. The ccTLDs supported by ICB all use on-line dispute resolution services provided by WIPO. Mr. Kane is a member of the ICANN's Task Force on WHOIS and Data Protection issues and also CENTR's working group on Data Protection.
