The World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO AMC) offers mediation services to assist parties in resolving disputes related to online content posted on social media platforms, forums, or websites without authorization that may infringe intellectual property rights of others. These disputes do not concern the Internet domain name itself but rather the content that has been published online.
How Mediation Can Help
Mediation is a voluntary and flexible dispute resolution process facilitated by a neutral third party. It can be used to:
- Request the removal of unauthorized content from a platform or website.
- Engage in discussions to negotiate a license for the use of the content.
- Seek alternative solutions that address the concerns of parties without resorting to litigation.
Invitation to Mediation
The WIPO AMC provides an invitation-to-mediation service that can be sent to the other party through an online form in WIPO’s website. This invitation serves as a request for voluntary participation in the mediation process.
- The invitation to mediation is free of administrative fees or other costs.
- Mediation is consensual; if the other party does not agree to participate, the procedure cannot proceed.
- If both parties agree to engage in mediation, mediator fees will apply based on the specifics of the case.
- Mediation can be conducted online.
How to Proceed
For more information on this service or to participate, contact WIPO at arbiter.mail@wipo.int or submit a request directly through this online form.
