WIPO – Harvard Law School “PatentX” Course Launch

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Harvard Law School (HLS) have teamed up to offer “PatentX”, a specialized online course on patent law and global public health. The course examines the complex relationships between intellectual property (IP) and public health, and ways in which patent law and other legal frameworks might be interpreted to address more effectively ongoing and future global pandemics. On November 10, 2022 WIPO and HLS will launch the new course to the public, opening it up for registration and enrolment. Registration for the PatentX course is free-of-charge but a limited number of spaces (up to 250 participants maximum) is available.

What will be covered?

The PatentX launch will be held in English. It will feature a welcome address by WIPO Director General Daren Tang and Prof. John F. Manning, Dean of Harvard Law School, followed by four thematic talks on topics relevant to the course content, including:

  • Theme 1: WIPO’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Theme 2: The Global Health Crisis – A Bird’s Eye View of Problems and Solutions
  • Theme 3: IP for Global Health
  • Theme 4: PatentX Course Content and Delivery Methodologies
