WIPO Academy joins the British Council for a Conversation on IP

November 3, 2020

The WIPO Academy joined the British Council’s Creative Spark Higher Education Enterprise Programme for a conversation on intellectual property (IP) on Facebook Live on October 22, 2020. The conversation consisted of a panel discussion with a group of IP training professionals and experts followed by a question and answer session. The Facebook Live event, which had over 37,000 views, was aimed at young creators, innovators and entrepreneurs taking part in the Creative Spark Big Idea Challenge. The panelists helped to introduce the young audience to IP and its importance to them as future entrepreneurs.

What was discussed?

Ms. Debbie McDonnell, the IP Manager at the British Council, moderated the conversation. Ms. Nardié Daniel, an IP Fellow at the WIPO Academy, participated as a panelist alongside Mr. Ben Snipe, the Founding Partner at SC Patents.

The panelists covered a range of IP topics including:

  • The difference between registered and unregistered rights.
  • The power of IP for young entrepreneurs and innovators.
  • Tips for protecting creations.
  • When is it worth registering one’s IP?

The recording of the conversation on IP is available on Facebook.
