WIPO Signs Agreement with ONDA of the Dominican Republic

The WIPO Academy signed a cooperation agreement with the National Copyright Office of the Dominican Republic (ONDA) on September 4, 2019, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to support and strengthen the Training and Development Center for Copyright and Related Rights (CDA).

The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Trajano Santana, Director General of ONDA, and Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy. Representatives of different government Ministries, universities and the private sector were present during the ceremony.

What does the agreement cover?

WIPO and ONDA will work closely to strengthen the CDA. The WIPO Academy will provide advice and assistance to ONDA in the establishment of a Documentation Center and Library at the CDA. Training programs will be designed and implemented for the capacity building of the Center’s core staff. A group of trainers will be constituted and trained to provide advice and training for government officials and stakeholders from the private sector in the area of copyright and related rights.
