Ms. Liu Hua emphasized that digitalization and greening are the dual driving forces propelling global economic and social development towards sustainability. The two innovation waves indicated in the Global Innovation Index 2022, a Digital Age innovation wave, and a Deep Science innovation wave, bring opportunities for green technology and development transformation.

Ms. Liu Hua underscored the fact that WIPO is often referred as a golden knowledge asset. IP assets exceeded $74 trillion in 2022, surpassing the sum of the top ten economies. To address the challenges of green development in the current innovation landscape, WIPO has put forth a series of initiatives.

WIPO's Patentscope consolidates over 117 million of the world's most cutting-edge patent technologies. Completely free and open for anyone to access and utilize, it aids policymakers, inventors, creators, and intellectual property operators, among others. The WIPO Green platform for green and sustainable transactions encompasses around 130,000 green technologies from 153 countries, connecting green technology providers and seekers. It is recognized by the UN Digital Day as a game-changing green solution in the world today. Currently, WIPO Green has 8 partners in China, and over 9,400 Chinese green technologies have been uploaded to the platform.

Ms. Liu Hua's remarks reflect the significant strides China has made in the field of innovation, as evidenced by its 12th position in the 2023 Global Innovation Index report., still being the only middle-income economy breaking into the top 15. China boasts 24 top S&T clusters, ranking first globally. As an extension of WIPO, the WIPO China office will continue to collaborate with the market, media, and major stakeholders to provide them with timely, tailored and, targeted services.

Themed on “Coordinated Digital and Green Transformation, Driving High-Quality Economic and Social Development”, the Coordinated Transformation for Digital and Green Development Forum was co-hosted by WIPO, Cyberspace Administration of China, and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Innovation and Security of Frontier Digital Technology Forum, focused on “Technology Leads Transformation, Digitization Creates the Future”, was co-hosted by WIPO, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhongguancun Laboratory. Participants from government, international organizations, industry institutions, research institutes, Chinese and foreign internet enterprises, and universities participated in the forums.
