Mr. Bai emphasized that geographical indications boost rural economies, preserve traditional knowledge and culture, and foster "regional brands." In global trade, GIs present a distinct branding edge. China has made notable strides in GI legislation, development, and protection. WIPO appreciates these efforts and supports China’s global endeavors, such as hosting seminars on GI protection for African countries in collaboration with CNIPA. With WIPO’s Lisbon System now covering 72 countries and its influence growing, it highlights the global focus on GIs.

Mr. Ren Hongbin noted that GIs effectively catalyze regional economic growth and act as an "economic passport" in international trade. Given the current landscape, intensifying international collaboration on GI branding can empower businesses to compete, promote local industries, and champion traditional culture. It also meets the genuine need for high-level opening up and high-quality development. The CCPIT will leverage its strengths further, offering more collaboration platforms and superior services for domestic and foreign enterprises.
