In his address, Carsten Fink emphasized innovation's vital role in driving economic growth and improving living standards globally. He introduced the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2023, which provides an analytical tool to benchmark the innovation capacity of economies worldwide. China was particularly lauded for having the highest number of science and technology clusters - a clear sign of its innovation achievements, setting a benchmark for other developing nations involved in the BRI.

Fink outlined how China's successful innovation practices could be a model for other countries seeking to advance their own innovation and development agendas. He remarked that China's position in the GII is a testament to the international acknowledgment of its strategic advancement in intellectual property and innovation sectors.
