PATENTS ACT (CHAPTER 221)

PATENTS (AMENDMENT NO. 2) RULES 2006

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 115 of the Patents Act, the Minister for Law, after consulting with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Patents (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st August 2006.

Amendment of rule 114

2. Rule 114 of the Patents Rules (R 1) is amended by deleting paragraph (4).

Amendment of First Schedule

3. The First Schedule to the Patents Rules is amended —

(a) by deleting item 49A and substituting the following item:

“ 49A. On request for extension of periods under sections 29(7) and 30 (1) (a) —

(a) where the application is not an international application for a patent (Singapore) that has entered the national phase in Singapore under section 86(3)

”; and

(b) by inserting, immediately after item 59, the following item:

Deletion of Eighth Schedule
