PLANT VARIETIES (PROPRIETARY RIGHTS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1993.

 

 

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 4 and 26 of the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Act, 1980 (No. 24 of 1980), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1993 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1993 ), and after compliance with subsection (2) of the said section 26, hereby make the following Regulations:

 

 

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993.

 

 

2. The Third Schedule to the Plant Varieties (Proprietary Rights) Regulations, 1981 ( S.I. No. 23 of 1981 ), is hereby amended by the substitution in Column (2) of "25" for "20" opposite the mention of Potatoes in column (1).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

 

 

These Regulations extend the period for which plant breeders' rights are to be exercisable in respect of potatoes from 20 to 25 years.
