Notes
The Constitution contains provisions that specially recognize and guarantee protection to intellectual property rights. Article 7(2) reads: 'Intellectual values produced by the citizens are the property of their authors and the national wealth of Mongolia'. It proclaims the great respect for the traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions of the country in Article 7(1): 'The historical, cultural, scientific and intellectual heritage of the Mongolian people is under the protection of the State'.
In addition, Article 16(8) gives the citizens the protection of the patents rights, the copyright and related rights, which provides: 'The citizens of Mongolia shall be guaranteed the privilege to enjoy...the right to engage in creative work in cultural, artistic, and scientific fields and benefit thereof. Copyrights and patents are protected by law'.
