Year of Version 2017 Dates Entry into force: January 1, 2017 Issued: September 2, 2015 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Geographical Indications Notes This Ordinance implements the following provisions of the Federal Act of August 28, 1992, on the Protection of Trademarks and Indications of Source (status as of January 1, 2017):
- Articles 48, paragraph 4, relating to indications of source for natural products and foodstuffs;
- Article 48b, paragraphs 1 and 4; relating to indications of source for foodstuffs;
- Article 50, relating to special provisions for Swiss indications of source.

The notification by Switzerland to the WTO under Article 63.2 of TRIPS states that:
'Provisions implementing the rules governing the use of Swiss indications of source for food products.'
