Year of Version 2011 Dates Adopted: September 8, 1984 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Other Notes The Law of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on Equity Joint Venture is divided into 5 chapters: Chapter 1 on Fundamental Principles, Chapter 2 on Establishment of an Equity Joint-Venture Enterprise, Chapter 3 on Organizational Structure and Management of an Equity Joint-Venture Enterprise, Chapter 4 on Settlement of Accounts and Distribution by an Equity Joint-Venture Enterprise, and Chapter 5 on Dissolution and Settlement of Disputes.

Article 3 states that the equity joint ventures can invest in different sectors, such as information technology, science and technology, and that they are encouraged by the State to introduce high technology, scientific research and technological development, among others.
Article 11 states that the amount of investment by each partner of the Joint-Venture enterprise shall be decided through mutual agreement and that each partner can invest in cash, industrial property right, technical know-how, right use land, etc.
