Pending IP Legislation of the Philippines

The Bill Amending Certain Provisions of Republic Act No. 8293 Entitled "An Act Prescribing the Intellectual Property Code and Establishing the Intellectual Property Office, Providing for its Powers and Functions and for Other Purposes" was prepared by the Committee on Trade and Commerce and introduced to the Philippine Senate on March 9, 2011. Once enacted into law, it will amend some sections of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines concerning Copyright protection. Among others, the amendment will create the Copyright Bureau and contain new provisions for Copyright registration and efficient measures against internet piracy.
