| April 13, 2012 | United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement: The United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement enters into force on May 15, 2012. Chapter Sixteen of the Agreement, which includes 14 articles and an annex, is entirely devoted to Intellectual Property Rights. The Agreement was signed by the United States of America and Colombia on November 22, 2006 and subsequently amended by a Protocol on June 28, 2007. It was previously approved by the Colombian Congress on July 4, 2007 and ratified by the Congress of the United States of America on October 12, 2011 through the United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act. Colombia has enacted laws to implement the Agreement. Recently it passed Law No. 1520 of April 13, 2012 "Through which are Implemented the Commitments under the 'Trade Promotion Agreement', signed between the Republic of Colombia and the United States of America and its 'Amending Protocol in the Context of Trade Policy and Economic Integration' ". Law No. 1520 concerns substantive copyright norms and regulations on copyright enforcement and enforcement regulations for intellectual property in general. |
| November 22, 2011 | Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Korea and the United States of America: The Free Trade Agreement, also known as KORUS FTA, was approved by the United States Congress on October 12, 2011 and ratified by the South Korean National Assembly on November 22, 2011. Under Section 101 of the United States - Korea Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act, its date of entry into force will be on or after January 1, 2012. The Agreement will come into force on March 15, 2012. Chapter Eighteen, which includes 12 extensive articles, is entirely devoted to Intellectual Property Rights. |
| October 12, 2011 | United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement: The United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement was ratified by the Congress of the United States of America on October 12, 2011. The Agreement, which was signed by the United States of America and Colombia on November 22, 2006 and subsequently amended by a Protocol, was previously approved by the Colombian Congress in 2007 and cleared by its Constitutional Court in 2008. Article 23.4 of the Agreement provides that it "shall enter into force 60 days after the date on which the Parties exchange written notifications certifying that they have completed their respective legal requirements or on such other date as the Parties may agree". Under Section 101(b) of the United States - Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act, the date of entry into force of the Agreement will be on or after January 1, 2012. Chapter Sixteen of the Agreement, which includes 14 extensive articles and an annex, is entirely devoted to Intellectual Property Rights. |

Article 22.5 of the Agreement provides that it "shall enter into force 60 days after the date on which the Parties exchange written notifications certifying that they have completed their respective legal requirements or on such other date as the Parties may agree". | October 29, 2010 | CBD Secretariat: The Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity was adopted on October 29, 2010 at Nagoya, Japan, and will be open for signature from February 2, 2011 until February 1, 2012. The Protocol sets terms on how countries will permit access to genetic resources, share the benefits arising from their use, and cooperate with one another in allegations of misuse. It will come into force 90 days after it has been ratified by at least 50 parties. |
