The Constitution of the Republic of Chad was adopted by referendum on 31 March 1996 and entered into force on 8 April of the same year. It was last amended by the Constitutional Act 08/PR/2005 of 15 July 2005.
This Constitution does not contain provisions concerning the protection of intellectual property rights.
However, Article 41 of Chapter I “Liberties and Fundamental Rights", in Title II “Liberties, Fundamental Rights and Duties”; and Article 144, in Title VI “Judicial Power” specify the right to private property. (See pages 6 & 23).
