The Law aims to safeguard and promote the cultural heritage of the nation; the protection of the rights of authors, performers, publishers, producers and broadcasters, relating to their literary or artistic creations in all its manifestations, performances, publications, phonograms or video recordings, broadcasts, as well as other intellectual property rights.
Articles 154, 157 to 161 guarantee the protection of the traditional cultural expressions, even if it is not possible to determine their individual authorship or the term of protection granted has expired.
