'This law contains provisions on definitions of trademarks and scope of of trademark rights, guarantee marks and collective marks, national and international registration of marks, acquisition and scope of rights, opposition procedure, register of marks, civil and criminal law proceedings, administrative appeals procedure, customs measures.
Article 72 contains the amendments in line with Articles 53 and 55 of the TRIPS Agreement.
Articles 10.2, 10.4, 28.3, 28.4, 40, 41.2, 43.2 and 45.2 contain the amendments following the asumption by the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property on 1 January 1996 of tasks of the Federal Office for Intellectual Property.
Articles 10, 17(a), 44 to 46 and 46(a) relate to the amendments with a view to the ratification of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of June 27, 1989 and the Trademark Law Treaty of October 27, 1994.
This law refers to the deadlines for requesting an extension of registration (Article 10); division of application or registration (Article 17(a)); international registration of marks (Article 44 to 46).'
