The notification by Trinidad and Tobago to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'This Act introduces the protection of well known marks; the duration of a trade mark is for a period of ten (10) years.
Under the previous legislation, registration was fourteen (14) years and introduces a new section to deal with the unauthorized use of a trademark in relation to goods.'
