Year of Version 1932 Dates Entry into force: October 1, 1932 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Other Notes The notification by Mexico to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The Civil Code sets out general rules for legal acts. It supplements the Federal Copyright Law in respect of matters not provided for therein.'
Title Eight of Book Two of the Civil Code, which is divided into Chapter I (Articles 1181-1243), Chapter II (Articles 1241-1254), and Chapter III (Articles 1255-1280), provides a legal framework for the protection of copyright and related rights.
Article One under “Transitional Provisions” of the Code states that it comes into force on October 1, 1932.
