Year of Version 1998 Dates Entry into force: October 1, 1997 Adopted: July 30, 1997 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Other Notes This consolidated version of the Customs Code incorporates all the amendments up to Law No. 119 of August 27, 1998, which entered into force on September 4, 1998.

This consolidated Code contains norms and provisions that require the customs bodies to undertake measures to hold counterfeit goods that infringe upon intellectual property rights, in particular, to suspend release of goods in circulation upon the right owner's application (see Section I, Chapter 2, Article 9; Section II, Chapter 3, Articles 21, Chapter 4, 28 to 30; Section III, Chapter 19, Article 110; and Section V, Chapter 29, Article 174).
