This consolidated text of the Penal Code incorporates all the amendments up to the 'Penal Code and Associated Amendment Acts Amendment Act (relating to the implementation of EU Directive on the freezing and confiscation of instrumentalities and proceeds of crime)' (hereinafter the 'Amendment Act').
The Amendment Act was adopted on December 15, 2016; was published in Part I of the State Gazette [Riigi Teataja] on December 31, 2016 (RT I, 31.12.2016, 2); and came into force mostly on January 1, 2017, and partly on January 10, 2017.
The consolidated Penal Code contains provisions relating to offenses against intellectual property rights and unjustified disclosure and use of business secrets (see Special Part, Chapter 14; and Chapter 21, Division 2, Section 377).
