The notification by Japan to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The Law concerning International Applications, etc. pursuant to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) is amended by Act No. 36 of 2014, an Act to amend the Patent Act, Design Act, Trademark Act, the Law concerning International Applications, etc. pursuant to the Patent Cooperation Treaty and the other act.
The Law concerning International Applications, etc. pursuant to the PCT was revised to improve the provisions under which applicants are able to pay fees for international applications with the Japan Patent Office in the same way as domestic fees, when they file such international applications with the Japan Patent Office under the PCT systems.'
