Year of Version 2012 Dates Signature: July 21, 1993 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Other Notes Law No. 5485-1 of July 21, 1993, on State Secrets entered into force on September 21, 1993, on the day of its official publication in the Russian Gazette, except for provisions of Article 17, paragraph 1 and Article 27, paragraph 1, which entered into force on January 1, 1995, in accordance with the Decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation No. 5486-1 of July 21, 1993, on Putting into Force “Law No. 5486-1, on State Secrets”.

This consolidated version of Law No. 5485-1 incorporates all the amendments up to “Federal Law No. 309-FZ of November 8, 2011, on Amendments to, and Repeal of Certain Laws of the Russian Federation Following the Adoption of the Federal Law on Monetary Allowances for the Military Servants and Grant of Certain Payments, and the Federal Law on Social Guarantees to Employees of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Russian Federation”, which entered into force on January 1, 2012, except for certain provisions which entered into force on different dates, in accordance with Article 12.
For the amendments introduced by the said Federal Law No. 309-FZ of November 8, 2011, see Article 4, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of this consolidated version, in which the words '…unless social guarantees or the procedure for providing such social guarantees are established by federal laws or regulations of the President of the Russian Federation” are added.

Section VI, Article 24, the third paragraph of the consolidated version of Federal Law No. 5485-1 provides that state officials and private individuals may be temporarily restricted in their right, inter alia, to disclosure and use of discoveries and inventions containing information relating to state secrets.
