Becoming a Partner

Prospective Partner Institutions

  • In order for your institution to benefit from assistance of WIPO, in the framework of WIPO University Initiative Program, your institution is required to apply for partnership.
  • Eligible institutions are universities and research institutions that are engaged in scientific research activities and wish to build/enhance their IP and technology management capacity.

 

Steps to take

Step 1: Designation of University IP Coordinator

  • BEFORE completing the Application Form, the institution is requested to designate a University IP Coordinator (UIPC)1

 

Step 2: Submission of Application Form

The Application Form is intended to gather initial information for the purpose of assessing the needs of the institution.  The Application Form consists of three parts:

Part I.   General information on the institution

Part II.  The IP and technology transfer activities in the institution

Part III. The experience and expertise of UIPC in the field of IP and technology management

The Application Form must to be duly completed and signed2 by the responsible of the institution3 and the UIPC before submission

The Application Form should be submitted via email at uipc.application@wipo.int.

Step 3: Confirmation of Partnership

  • Upon review of the Application Form, WIPO sends an email of confirmation4
  • WIPO University Initiative Program UIPC Certificate is issued and sent by mail in due course

1The UIPC is a current or potential technology manager, typically with scientific background and some IP knowledge

2On the last page of the Application Form (WORD version) there is a place for signatures. However, in case electronic signature is not available, please use the Annex to the Application Form for signature and submit a scanned copy.

3“the responsible of the institution” may be Dean, Rector, President, Vice president etc. as this partnership should be supported by the management of the institution

4Partnership with WIPO Program is subject to WIPO approval
