Declaraciones, Reservas etc.
Ratification of the Paris Act (1971) accompanied by the following declaration: "The Government of Japan declares, in accordance with Article 30(2)(a) of the said Convention, that it intends to retain until December 31, 1980, the benefit of the reservation which it previously formulated, namely, that it intends to remain bound by the provisions of Article 5 of the Berne Convention of September 9, 1886, as amended by Section III of Article 1 of the Additional Act signed at Paris on May 4, 1896, in respect of the authors' exclusive right, referred to in Article 8 of the said Convention, of making or of authorizing the translation of their works." (Translation).Stockholm Act (1967): A notification was deposited by the Government of Japan in which that Government indicated its desire to avail itself of the provisions of Article 38(2) of the Stockholm Act of the Berne Convention. This notification entered into force on the date of its receipt, that is, on September 17, 1970. Pursuant to the provisions of the said Article, Japan, which was a member of the Berne Union, could, for five years from April 26, 1970, the date of entry into force of the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), exercise the rights provided under Articles 22 to 26 of the Stockholm Act of the Berne Convention, as if it were bound by those Articles.
Ratificación del Acta de Roma (1928) con la siguiente reserva: El artículo 8 del Acta queda sustituido por el artículo 5 del Convenio de Berna (1886), modificado por el artículo 1, número III, del Acta adicional de París (1896), respecto del derecho exclusivo de los autores de hacer o autorizar la traducción de sus obras.
El Japón declaró su intención de conservar el beneficio de esta reserva hasta el 31 de diciembre de 1980.
Ratificación del Acta de Berlín (1908) con la siguiente reserva: El artículo 8 del Acta queda sustituido por el artículo 5 del Convenio de Berna (1886), modificado por el artículo 1, número III, del Acta adicional de París (1896), respecto del derecho exclusivo de los autores de hacer o autorizar la traducción de sus obras.

La ratificación del Acta de Roma (1928) se aplicó también en Corea, Formosa, Sajalín del Sur y Kanto.
