International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants
of December 2, 1961, as revised at Geneva on November 10, 1972, and on October 23, 1978

Ratification by the French Republic

The Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to inform him of the deposit by the Government of the French Republic, on February 17, 1983, of its instrument of ratification of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants of December 2, 1961, as revised at Geneva on November 10, 1972, and on October 23, 1978.

The said instrument of ratification contains the following declaration: "Referring to Article 36, paragraph (1), of the Convention, the Government of France declares that it is applicable to the territory of the French Republic, including the Overseas Departments and Territories." (Translation)

The said International Convention as revised in 1978 will enter into force, with respect to the French Republic, one month after the date on which it deposited its instrument of ratification, that is, on March 17, 1983.
