International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants
International Convention (1961) and Additional Act of November 10, 1972
Accession by the State of Israel
The Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in conformity with the provisions of Article VIII, paragraph (6), of the above Additional Act, has the honor to inform him that, according to the notification received from the Government of the Swiss Confederation on December 3, 1979, the Government of the State of Israel deposited, on November 12, 1979, its instrument of accession to the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants, signed at Paris on December 2, 1961, and to the Additional Act of November 10, 1972, amending the said International Convention.
The State of Israel will belong to Class V, for the purpose of determining the amount of its contribution towards the budget of UPOV; however, pursuant to the provisions of Article 26(5) of the Convention of 1961 as amended by the Additional Act of 1972, the Council of UPOV has decided to allow the State of Israel to pay only one-half of the contribution corresponding to Class V.
The said International Convention and Additional Act entered into force, with respect to the State of Israel, thirty days after the deposit of its instrument of accession, that is, on December 12, 1979.
