Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks

Notification by the People’s Republic of China: Withdrawal of Declaration Concerning Article 14(5)

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on June 17, 1996, of a notification of the Government of the People’s Republic of China withdrawing the declaration that it made under Article 14(5) of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989, according to which declaration the protection resulting from any international registration effected under the said Protocol before the date of entry into force of the said Protocol with respect to the People’s Republic of China cannot be extended to it (see Madrid Notification No. 79, of February 1, 1996).
