Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks

Notification by the Republic of Belarus:
Withdrawal of Declarations Concerning Articles 5(2)(b) and 8(7)(a)

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on January 18, 2002, of a notification of the Government of the Republic of Belarus withdrawing the declaration that it made under Article 5(2)(b) of the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989, according to which declaration the time limit of one year to exercise the right to notify a refusal of protection referred to in Article 5(2)(a) thereof is replaced by 18 months, and the declaration that it made under Article 8(7)(a) of the said Protocol, according to which declaration the Republic of Belarus, in connection with each international registration in which it is mentioned under Article 3ter of the said Protocol, and in connection with the renewal of any such international registration, wants to receive, instead of a share in the revenue produced by the supplementary and complementary fees, an individual fee (see Madrid Notification No. 138, of October 18, 2001).
