Application of the Berne Convention to Macau

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit, by the Government of the Portuguese Republic, of a notification dated May 12, 1999, that the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, shall extend to Macau.

The application of the said Convention to Macau shall take effect, in accordance with Article 31(3)(a), on August 12, 1999.
