Title: Implementation of the IPDP in Sudan: A facts finding Mission for the design of an Intellectual Property (IP) and Branding Project for Origin linked local products
Description: In September 2013, the Government of Sudan and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed an Intellectual Property Development Plan (IPDP) for the modernization of the Intellectual Property (IP) system in Sudan. In the framework of the IPDP, it was agreed that WIPO will assist Sudan in setting-up and managing a system for the use of geographical indications (GI) for certain national agricultural products to enhance their commercialization. It is proposed that Mr. Mengistie Getachew, IP Law Consultant and Attorney, undertake a facts finding Mission form February 16 to 27, 2015, in order to discuss a project on IP and Branding for origin linked local products. It is also proposed that Mr. Amr Abdelaziz from the Regional Bureau for Arab Countries will accompany Mr. Getachew during the three first days, when the expert will be meeting senior level officials from Sudan.
