Member States are realizing the importance of the intellectual property system and product brand strategies as a means for enhancing the competitiveness of certain agro-based industries as witnessed from an increased request for assistance in this regard. Some of the requests are a direct reaction from exposure to existing programs while others are a response to the recommendations made in WIPO-supported country IP strategies which have identified certain agro food sectors within which the elaboration of sectoral IP and product brand strategies is recommended.
