Reference is made to the above subject, and the request received by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) from the Government of the Republic of Rwanda to participate in the implementation of the WIPO Project entitled: Capacity-Building in the Use of Appropriate Technology-Specific Technical and Scientific Information as a Solution for Identified Development Challenges. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the project was held on April 22, 2015. The Director General signed the MoU on behalf of WIPO and H.E. the Ambassador of Rwanda signed the MoU, representing his Government. As contained in the project document, the first step following the signing of the MoU is to launch the project in the beneficiary country. In this context, it is proposed for your consideration the organization of a National Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, on August 24 and 25, 2015, to launch the project. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a roadmap for the implementation of the project. The meeting is expected to discuss and finalize identification of national experts for the establishment of the national expert group on appropriate technology, the establishment of a national multi stakeholders group and the nomination of national and international project consultants. The cost of the activity will be borne from the budget of the Division for Least Developed Countries (0035-D0041). A detailed cost estimate is attached. |
