Memo 2:
Reference is made to the attached approved memorandum concerning the convening of a National Expert Group (NEG) Meeting in Dar es Salaam, from July 24 to 26, 2017 under the framework of implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda Project – Phase II: Capacity-Building in the Use of Appropriate Technology-Specific Technical and Scientific Information as a Solution for Identified Development Challenges in Tanzania.
The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) has requested WIPO to reschedule the above mentioned meeting due to the unavailability of senior staff from the Commission during the scheduled dates of the meeting due to their participation in a workshop in South Africa.
Following further consultations with the Officials it is now proposed to convene the meeting from July 17 to 19, 2017.
The change of dates of the meeting will neither incur any additional cost on the part of WIPO nor revision of the main elements of the program of the meeting.
Memo 1:
Reference is made to the implementation of the above mentioned Project in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Significant progress has been made in the implementation of the above mentioned Project since its launch on August 24 and 25, 2015 in Dar es Salaam in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA), and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST).
Since then, the Project has advanced with significant direct engagement with national institutions to achieve almost all of the key project deliverables as envisaged in the Project document.
These deliverables include the institutionalization of the National Expert Group under the chairmanship of the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology; the recruitment of an international and national consultant; the identification of two development need area |
