WIPO assisted Brunei Darussalam in developing a National IP Strategy back in 2014. Following its adoption by the national authorities concerned, the Strategy has been under implementation and the first iteration of the implementation plan is almost done. Hence, there is a need to formulate a second iteration of the implementation plan under the Strategy based on the current developing priorities and IP needs of Brunei Darussalam. Secondly, though a small office with around 20 staff, BruIPO has plans to spin off in the next few years so as to be administratively and financially autonomous agency. In this connection, BruIPO has been endeavoring to sustain itself with the revenues generated by IP services that it provides to user community. In line with this endeavor, BruIPO has also requested the assistance of WIPO in conducting a resource and management diagnostic and coming up with a set of specific recommendations on how to transform its management systems so as to be more effective and efficient in its delivery of IP services.
