Conferences on Intellectual Property Rights for SMEs

Bangalore, India (August 3, 2001) and (Jaipur, India (August 6, 2001)

As part of its cooperation activities, the SMEs Division of WIPO assisted the Government of India through the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries (SSI & ARI) to organize two one-day conferences on "Intellectual Property Rights for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)" on August 3 and 6, 2001 in Bangalore, Karnataka and Jaipur, Rajasthan.  Mr. Guriqbal Singh Jaiya, Deputy Director of the SMEs Division, and Mr. Donald Bollella, a patent attorney from USA, represented WIPO.

These two events are a prelude to the holding of one-day sensitization programs in 14 major Indian cities planned to be held between September and December 2001. These events will be organized by the Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO). WIPO is providing technical assistance for this purpose. Only local resource persons will make the presentations in these events.
